IA resolves dispute with AFI
The IATSE has announced an agreement with the American Film Institute management for the "front of house" workers at the AFI's Silver Theater and Cultural Center.
Last week, on the eve of the AFI Film Festival, the IA announced a boycott of AFI events. The IA asserted that the AFI was engaging in anti-union activities in connection with an organizing effort at the AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center in Silver Springs, Maryland. In their statement the IA noted its historical support for the AFI.
As a result of continuing talks the parties reached an agreement on November 4, 2009. The IA states that the agreement provides for significant wage, benefit and working condition improvements.
